A new year, a new millennium and a new look for the Singapore Law Gazette!

Butterworths Asia is happy to announce its new agreement with the Law Society of Singapore to publish  the Singapore Law Gazette and we are honoured to be able to work together with the Law Society in bringing this journal to the legal profession in Singapore. In the midst of great excitement and hopes for the future of the publication, the contract was signed by Mr Palakrishnan, President of the Law Society, and Mr Tony Kinnear, Regional Director of Butterworths Asia, in December.

In each of our monthly issues, there will be a theme on which articles in the ‘Focus’ section will be featuring. In this issue, our theme is ‘Alternative Dispute Resolution’ and we have articles on arbitration, co-mediation in Court Dispute Resolution International and counselling in family disputes. We also have two non-theme articles on the millennium bug and product liability and e.chambers, all of which add up to a substantial and interesting read which should keep you occupied until our next issue!

As the Singapore Law Gazette is the official publication of the Law Society, we are mindful that this is a journal for the members of the Society and as such, we would like to hear from you and feature your comments and news on our forthcoming ‘Forum’ page. We, and your fellow legal practitioners, would especially like to hear of your recent work experiences and related gripes, peeves, praises and accolades.
