In-House Seminar

Members attending the recent ‘A Night at the Round Table’ organised by the Young Lawyers’ Committee (YLC) were surprised that the Law Society Conference Room was able to hold the crowd of 50 who turned up, with still room for more. They were not the only surprised ones. The YLC itself had placed a cap of 30 to 40 participants due to space constraints, but relented when more members insisted on signing up for the event (a total of 60 members did). With this successful experiment, it may well be that future seminars of such nature can be held in-house, without paying hotel rates, with refreshments at Re:lex lounge!

Ball Assertions

Congratulations are in order to the Law Society team for narrowly snagging the Challenge Cup to the Inaugural Law Fraternity Games over the other participants: The NUS Law Faculty, The Board of Legal Education and The Judicial and Legal Officers Association. However, in one regard the results were apt, if not uncanny: both the Men and Women’s Futsal was won by the Law Society, and who best to hand over the trophies to our players than our President of the Law Society, who is himself no stranger to the local football scene.

Well-Fed Welfare

Some time back, Obiter picked up on a suggestion for a Law Café: serving up ‘Salmon-in-Chambers’ and ‘Café Lawtte’ and such legal fare. It would seem that one of the largest law firm has now gone to town with the idea, with its very own café.

SLG is eagerly awaiting an invitation to see if it is indeed personal service.
