As part of its continuing effort to harness advances in communications and information technology to better meet the needs of the public that it exists to serve, the Supreme Court has upgraded its website and introduced new, interactive web based information kiosks (web kiosks).
While the address
http://www.supcourt.gov.sg remains the same, the website, which was first launched in 1996, has taken on a totally new look and feel. Where, previously, information about the Supreme Court was made available to the public through both the website and information kiosks, necessitating the maintenance of parallel data input systems, the new website and web kiosks combine the best features of both to make the new website a central, one stop electronic portal to access on-line information about the Supreme Court.
The highly popular court hearing lists and law notices continue to be available at
the new site. The relaunched Supreme Court Website also includes links to the web sites of other legal institutions, including a Directory of Law Firms and Lawyers, as well as a Directory of Commissioners for Oaths and Notaries Public. To make the website more user-friendly and to encourage feedback, links to the homepage and feedback page can be found throughout the new site. Quick links have also been created to point to other sections within the same category to facilitate swift and easy navigation.
To complement and leverage on the enhancement of the Supreme Court Website, three web kiosks have also been installed in the City Hall and Supreme Court Buildings to replace the dedicated information kiosks that were first introduced in 1995. Directly linked to the Supreme Court Website, these user-friendly state-of-the-art touchscreen kiosks enable members of the public to gain quick and easy access to on-line information on the Supreme Court.
Other new and improved features of the kiosks include a two-dimensional (2D) 'flash pop-up' graphic navigation map of the Supreme Court and City Hall Buildings. This guides users on how to move from one point to another within the Supreme Court premises. Users can also experience a more colourful array of images and informative insights into the workings of the Supreme Court.
The Supreme Court is committed to continually enhance the functionality of the site and developing additional content to better meet user needs. All are cordially invited to visit the website and/or to try out the new web kiosks. Feedback is most welcome.
