From the Editor

Welcome to the March issue of The Singapore Law Gazette!

Our 'Focus' this issue is on Shipping Law. We have a distinguished Senior Counsel writing on the evolution of Singapore's own jurisprudence in admiralty law, a shipping lawyer highlighting the Singapore perspective in resolving cross-border shipping disputes and members of a well-known shipping firm writing on the issue of limitation of shipowners' liabilities. There is also an interesting profile of shipping lawyers in Singapore.

In 'Features' this month, we have an article on conveyancers' duty of care, with a plea for clearer guidance on the limits to this duty. We also have an opportunity to meet Mr Richard Sykes QC, who was in town to give a seminar in February. Lastly, following Parliament's passing of the Legal Profession (Amendment) Bill on 17 January 2000, we have an article providing us with a general overview of the new additions to the Legal Profession Act (Cap 161) introduced by the new legislation.

We would like to remind our readers to write in to our forthcoming 'Forum' page. By writing in with your feedback and comments on both the journal and any work-related experiences which you have had, you will make this publication truly yours.
