This extremely packed June issue will make very interesting reading for not only our usual readers, but will probably also pique the interest of some of our medical brethren.

Besides our usual Law Society news and information, this issue sees the most substantial ‘Focus’ section we have had over the last six months, with the theme on ‘Medicine and the Law’. We open with an article on birth trauma litigation, followed by an in memoriam tribute to the life and work of Professor Chao Tzee Cheng. We then have an experienced forensic pathologist’s view of what is involved in doctors taking the stand as expert witnesses. Next, a practitioner discusses the standards in medical negligence and whether the case of Bolam is still applicable in the present climate. Medical disciplinary proceedings in Singapore are also examined and the issue of informed consent, together with a call for greater guidance on what it constitutes, concludes our selection of articles on this medical theme.

Due to constraints of space, the Young Lawyers Page, Features and IBA News have been held over in this issue.
