In
this issue, we ‘Focus’ on the theme of ‘Real Estate’. We have an article
reviewing some of the written decisions of the Strata Titles Board following the
recent amendments to the law relating to en bloc sales. The next article
explains the situation where mortgagees who seek to take possession when
mortagors default are faced with tenancies still running on the mortgaged
properties. We then have an article from the Housing and Development Board
setting out the differences and procedures involved in the resale and transfer
of HDB flats. The ‘Real Estate’ theme is concluded with an article on real
property secured loans and prioritisation.
Our ‘Features’ section provides
us, firstly, the results of the conveyancing scale fees survey conducted by the
Law Society in July. Secondly, we have an article by the Immediate Past
President of the Law Society, which offers a Singapore perspective on the role
of lawyers in mediation.
‘Forum’ this month sees a vocal
response. We publish letters from two practising lawyers who have written in
with their opinions. We would like to encourage all our readers to follow their
example by sending us your news and views via post, fax or email, to:
