Secretariat Update

In December last year, we bade a fond farewell to our CEO, Mr Naresh Mahtani, who has returned to practice. We thank Naresh for two years of service with the Law Society and wish him all the best in his future endeavours. Taking his place from 1 January 2002, we welcome and congratulate Ms Yashodhara Dhoraisingam, the new CEO. Yasho, as she is known, is no stranger to members of the Law Society, having handled various portfolios, the last of which was Director of Professional Standards and Membership Services.

	Taking over the reins of the Professional Standards Department will be the new Director, Mr Ho Meng Third.
	The Membership Services Department will now come under the Corporate Communications Department, which is in the capable hands of its Director, Ms Adeline Ang.

Continuing Legal Education ('CLE') has also felt the winds of change with the transfer of Dr Lincoln Wee to CLE. Up until 31 December 2001, Lincoln was the Director of the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme ('CLAS'). CLAS will shortly appoint a new Director under a restructured portfolio called Corporate Relations.

Congratulations also go out to Mr Clifford Hang, who has been promoted to Assistant Director of Finance.
