That, of course, is not true. But now that I have your attention, I simply must tell you about the Law Society's annual Dinner & Dance.
Scheduled for 19 October 2002 at the Regent Hotel, this year's affair promises to be full of glitz and glamour. Apart from the delectable cuisine that is de rigueur for the Law Society's annual dinners, the Social and Welfare Committee, traditional organisers of the event, will be engaging the Comedy Court performers to provide the night's entertainment. This duo, well known for their sophisticated brand of humour, will surely go down well with the audience. Said David Nayar, Chairman of the Committee, 'We are committed to bringing in only high-quality entertainment for our members, not to mention the best venue and great food. Having organised this event for so many years, we know our members' expectations are high, and we will try not to disappoint'.
Another highlight will be the Legal Eagle and 'Friends of the Law Society' awards. The legal circle is already abuzz with speculation on who the nominees will be. And did I mention that the D&D is always a good occasion to people watch and rub shoulders with the glitterati of the legal fraternity? Who wore what? Who came with whom? Who's not sitting with whom?
It seems the only way to satisfy curiosity is to be there on the appointed day. Tickets have not been released for sale yet, but I, for one, am already holding my breath.
