Dear Pala,

I have just returned to Singapore after being away for a week. On going through the ‘old’ newspapers, I read that you were going to step down as the President at the end of this year.

Pala, speaking as a layperson, in my view, one of your greatest achievements has been your wonderful editorials.

I have read the Law Soc Magazine for some years now. You refreshed it with your common sense, down to earth, bread and butter approach to the legal profession. You have rightly not taken the high and mighty stand, the holier than thou attitude and extolling higher virtues etc. You have addressed, in a factual commonsense manner, the issues facing all of us.

For that, you have pioneered a human face to the legal profession — well done.
