Friendship Treaty between The Law Society of Singapore and The Law Society of England & Wales
Council approved the term of the Friendship Treaty to be signed with the Law Society of England & Wales on the occasion of the official visit of the President of the Law Society of England & Wales to Singapore on 11 December 2003.

Appointment of Ad-Hoc Bailiffs under Section 15A Subordinate Courts Act (Cap 321)
Council accepted the recommendation of the Society’s Ad-Hoc Committee that a Bailiff must be independent and not be a member of the Judgment Creditor’s law firm. This view would be reported to the Subordinate Courts?Working Committee studying the appointment of ad-hoc Bailiffs.

Dialogue Session with Members on SRES Committee’s Report
Council agreed to solicit further feedback from members by the end of the year by circulating the report of the SRES Ad-Hoc Committee on the Members?Homepage and E Jus News. Forty members attended the dialogue session organised by the Society in October 2003.

Council decided to name the Society’s voluntary mark ‘PrimeLaw?

De-Linked PC Report
Council discussed a draft of a final report on de-linked practising certificates to be submitted to the Honourable The Attorney-General and made changes to the same. The CEO was requested to submit a revised final draft report for the next meeting of the Council.
