This year’s Bowling Masters champion is Mr Lawrence Tan from Allen & Gledhill who bowled a total of 1420 pinfalls over a series of eight consecutive games.
‘It was very satisfying for me to come from behind and win it,’ says Lawrence, who was placed 15th out of 36 bowlers after the first game. By the time the sixth game was completed, he had climbed his way up to fourth position. Going into the final game, he had caught up to second spot. ‘I started rather slowly and eventually found my line … it is important to play your own game and not be distracted by how well the other bowlers are doing,’ he says.
Here are the top eight bowlers who earned a share of the prize money in this year’s tournament held at Planet Bowl, Civil Service Club on Saturday, 7 May 2005:
Position Name Law Practice/Organisation Total Pinfall
1 Lawrence Tan Allen & Gledhill 1420
2 A L Hussien A L Hussien & Co 1386
3 Alvin Cheng Chris Chong & CT Ho Partnership 1355
4 Angeline Suparto Angeline Suparto & Co 1354

6 Mohamed Endra Bin Abd Aziz Lee & Lee 1341
7 Razali Bin Muhammad Drew & Napier LLC 1318
8 Raziz Bin Abd Rahman Allen & Gledhill 1308
The top three bowlers were also awarded trophies for their achievements. The trophy for ‘Men’s High Game Score’ went to Mr Amin Bin Iyeit (Drew & Napier LLC) who bowled an outstanding high game of 250 pinfalls, while Ms Eudrina Yeo (Straits Law Practice LLC) took home the trophy for ‘Ladies’ High Game Score’ with an impressive high game of 202.
Our next bowling tournament will be the ‘Piala Pala’ 9-Pin-Tap Bowling Tournament to be held in November this year. This year’s tournament will see some minor changes to the format — to make it even more exciting than before. More trophies will also be given out this time round. So do watch out for it.
Until then, let’s bowl!
