NEWS Sharing the Good Tidings

Mok Wai Mun and Dharmendra Yadav, two corporate counsel of NTUC Income Insurance Cooperative Limited recently won Singapore’s Excellent Service Awards. Wai Mun received the gold award, and Dharmendra, the silver. A check with the Singapore Corporate Counsel Association reveals that they are very likely the first Singapore corporate counsel to have won this award.

Launched in 1994, the Excellent Service Award is a national award that recognises individuals who have delivered outstanding service. It seeks to develop service models for staff to emulate, create service champions and professionalise services.

Wai Mun says of her award, ‘I share NTUC Income’s commitment to provide excellent client service. This award recognises our organisation’s efforts to always remain client-focused. It also gives me greater impetus to continue providing my internal clients with excellent legal advice and support.’

Dharmendra sees his achievement ‘only possible through the strong support of colleagues in NTUC Income and I share this award with them. It is important for one not to rest on his past laurels. I look forward to making more constructive contributions to both NTUC Income and Singapore’s legal fraternity.’

 Congratulations to them both!

Jacintha’s adventures will see her sailing from the Caribbean up to the Eastern Seaboard and across the Atlantic to Liverpool to cross the finishing line. The Clipper Race, the world’s longest circumnavigation covering 35,000 nautical miles, set sail from Liverpool, England on 18 September 2005. Apart from a partial subsidy from the STPB, Jacintha will have to finance the cost of this venture herself. She welcomes any donation or sponsorship from well-wishers.

Law Society Vice President Yap Teong Liang and his wife, Stephanie, became proud parents when their first-born, Tricia Yap Yee Teng arrived on 30 September 2005, weighing in at 3.415kg. Apart from sporting some dark circles under the eyes and the occasional wet shoulder, Teong Liang and his wife have taken happily to their new roles which primarily revolve around speedy attendance to every cry and whimper of little Tricia’s.
