Law Society Shield Cross-Country Run

At the annual Law Society Shield Cross-Country Run held at the MacRitchie Reservoir Park on 23 April 2006, the combined team of Allen & Gledhill/Linklaters Allen & Gledhill (‘A&G/LA&G’) won its fourth team title in a row. This year’s contest was a close one, with Clifford Chance Wong (‘CCW’) a mere three points behind in second place. Drew & Napier LLC (‘D&N’) took third place.

In the individual categories, last year’s winners, Wendy Yap (A-G’s Chambers), Nathan Dodd (A&G/LA&G) and Harold Or (A&G/LA&G) were expected to do well in the Ladies (Open), Men’s (Junior) and Men’s (Senior) categories respectively. The trio ran true to form and expectations. Wendy was the fastest woman runner and ranked 11th among all runners. Nathan won his fifth consecutive Men’s (Junior) category title. Harold was the fastest overall runner, shaving 10 seconds off his own record of 16 minutes and 20 seconds which he set in 2003 and 2005.

The Men’s (Veteran) category saw last year’s champion, Gary Pryke (D&N) equalling his record of 18 minutes and 32 seconds which he set last year. Unfortunately, it was not enough for Gary to retain his title as newcomer Philip Rapp (CCW) ran a strong race to take first place. Philip’s sterling time of 16 minutes and 56 seconds was the third overall fastest this year.

More than 80 lawyers and staff from law practices participated in the run. Mr Joseph Liow, Chairman of the Sports Committee, flagged off the race and gave away the prizes.
