Gokul Haridas, the former Director of Community Relations of the Law Society and now a Prosecutor with the Ministry of Manpower, became a proud father when his wife, Yvette, gave birth to their first-born, a baby girl, little Maya Haridas, on 11 April 2006, at 3.30pm. Despite he and Yvette having to wake in the middle of the night to feed and rock Maya back to sleep, Gokul is clearly a smitten dad, as he says in wonder, ‘Hearing the faint but audible heartbeats of my baby was one of the most rewarding moments of my life. After many months of anxious waiting and praying, she is finally here, the greatest gift of my life. The miracle of birth absolutely fascinated me and I still remember the state I was in while pacing the hall outside the operating theatre. Now, almost three months after her birth, Maya continues to be the centre of our lives, especially mine ...’ Awww ...

Collin Choo (of Straits Law Practice LLC), Jinny Tan (of Wee Tay & Lim) and little Iain welcomed the arrival of baby Aidan on 21 March 2006. Weighing an initial 3.56kg, baby Aidan, with his voracious appetite for milk, was at two months old, already the size of an average three-month-old baby! The two boys look identical to their daddy, much to the disappointment of mummy who was hoping Aidan would bear some resemblance to her. Well, we say she could be third time lucky!

Senior Counsel Invite New CJ and AG to Dinner
A group of 21 Senior Counsel (‘SC’) hosted a dinner for the new Chief Justice, the Honourable Chan Sek Keong and the Attorney-General Chao Hick Tin at the Tower Club on 26 May 2006. It was an evening of good food, fine wine and genteel company. No speeches were made by the SCs as it was felt that the SCs would be making their ‘speeches’ before the Honourable Chief Justice in court in any event.
