Appointment of Committees for 2007

The Council appointed members of the standing committees of the Society for 2007 at the meeting and approved changes to the terms of reference of the following committees, namely, Admissions, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Advocacy, Conveyancing, Criminal and Project Law Help.

Dialogue with Members on Project Work Plan 2007 on 19 January 2007

Members of the Society had been invited to a dialogue on the Society’s Project Work Plan 2007 on Friday, 19 January 2007. At this dialogue, the Council would be sharing with members the Society’s plans and projects for the year.

Launch of ‘Practice Consult’ – A New Practice Management Support Initiative

Shawn Toh, Assistant Director, Communications and Membership Interests, informed that the Society’s new practice management support initiative, known as Practice Consult, under which assistance and guidance would be provided to practitioner members on practice management issues, would be officially launched on 8 January 2007.

Celebration of the Society’s 40th Anniversary

The Council approved the proposed programme for the celebration of the Society’s 40th anniversary on 9 February 2007, which had been planned with the objectives of encouraging members’ involvement in the celebrations, increasing members’ awareness of the Society and its work, and providing an opportunity for Council members to interact with members in a social setting.
