Draft Second Practice Direction of Council
on a Second Signatory to Client Account
Council approved the second Practice Direction of Council on a second signatory
to the client account. The Practice Direction together with the specimen form
of the statutory declaration of solicitors in connection with the appointment
of second signatories would be disseminated to members shortly.
Nomination of Society's Representatives on the Committees of the Singapore
Academy of Law ('SAL')
Council appointed Sivakumar Murugaiyan, as the Society's representative on the Board of Commissioners for Oaths and Notaries Public for a two-year term.
Council further appointed the following persons as the Society's representatives for the following committees of SAL:

Charity Project to Commemorate the Society's
40th Anniversary
Mr Lee Terk Yang reported on the proposal of the Social & Welfare Committee
('SWC') to organise a charity with the Spastic Children's Association of Singapore
('the charity') as beneficiary. The SWC proposed to approach members to make
donations in kind of items required by the charity and to deposit such items
at the Subordinate Courts Bar Room.
Design and Budget for the 2007 Annual Report
Council approved the design and budget for this year's annual report as proposed
by the Publications Committee.
Publication of PrimeLaw Office Manual
Council agreed to the PrimeLaw Committee's proposal to publish the PrimeLaw
Office Manual as a booklet to be launched in September 2007.
Council Tea Session with Members
Ms Lisa Sam gave a report to Council on the first tea session held with senior
practitioners on 25 June 2007. Council discussed the issues raised by members
at the tea session and the follow-up action to be taken.
The next tea session with members will be held
on ?27 August 2007.
