Legal Aid Bureau Recognition Awards

Members of the bar who have volunteered their time as panel solicitors have been a key pillar of the Legal Aid Bureau since its inception.

On 19 November 2008, the Legal Aid Bureau held a dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel to celebrate its 50th anniversary. One of the highlights of the dinner was an award presentation by the Minister of Law, Mr K Shanmugam, to the Law Society to thank all our members who have volunteered as panel solicitors of the Legal Aid Bureau. The award was received on behalf of the Society by Vice President Ms Malathi Das.

The Law Society is honoured and proud to receive this award on behalf on our panel solicitors and this is truly your award. Members and panel solicitors are welcome to view the award currently displayed at the Pro Bono Office at the Subordinate Courts, Havelock Square.

The following members also received individual awards that evening for their support and contribution to the Legal Aid Bureau's work: Ms Hawa Jailani Zinat, Ms Belinda Ang, Mr Ramasamy K Chettiar and Mr Tng Soon Chye.
