Final Fridays
“Finally, Friday! A mojito in one hand. Chilli nachos within reach. The woes inflicted by that never ending ‘to-do list’, distant. Smiles all around. Feels like we almost forgot how nice it could be catching up with old friends. Some may say the hallowed hallways of Harry’s Bar never felt warmer, and it certainly showed!”
Started by the Young Lawyers Committee (“YLC”) in August 2009, “Final Fridays” is a social networking event which takes place on the last Friday of every month for lawyers to mingle with one another in a casual setting over drinks and snacks. With discounts on drinks from 6:30pm onwards until 10pm and a selection of drinks from only $6 nett from 7pm to closing time, Final Fridays proved to be both light-hearted and light on the wallet.
Final Fridays included exclusive whiskey and champagne tasting sessions arranged specially for young lawyers by the YLC.
At the champagne tasting session, lawyers received an insight into the various Champagne houses and had a chance to discover the differences between vintage, non-vintage, demi-sec and a range of delicious “grandes marques”.
The subsequent whiskey tasting session again proved to be a marvelous eye-opener. We were introduced to distillation methods, the various types of whiskey and even how to savour the drink, which some call the “water of life”. Dizzy with new found knowledge, we left realising that old isn’t always gold!
As with every Final Fridays’ session, be it whiskey or champagne tasting or cocktails, one thing is certain - the chance to meet new people and catch up with old friends! It is the perfect prelude to the start of a great weekend!
